However, even though crucial parts may have been serviced/replaced, an older lighter may still leak gas over time, or miss a spark. These lighters have aged over decades, resulting in some internal wear that may have accumulated and will affect their performance, and there is nothing to be done about it. Just know that you are buying a vintage product, and it can happen that they may not perform as expected of a new lighter.

A Ligne 2 from the 1980s in blue lacquer, in the larger of the two sizes Dupont offers on this model. The lacquer sits deep and even across the flat panels that define the Ligne 2’s profile, with the gold plating along the edges and base giving the blue a warm line to sit against rather than a cold one. It is a finish that shows itself differently depending on the light it is standing in, from near black in shadow to a true blue when it catches the sun.
The Ligne 2 moved the flame adjustment down to a screw on the base, away from the latch, with a second port alongside it for refilling, so the two jobs that used to compete for the same mechanism now sit apart and out of the way of daily use. Dupont also reworked the architecture of the cap for this model to sharpen the note it makes on opening, which is the ping collectors listen for and the detail that still sets a Ligne 2 apart on a restaurant table.
This example comes with three small chips to the lacquer, one on the back and one on each side, and that is the reason for its price against the rest of our stock. Beyond those three chips the lighter has held up well, and it remains a lighter to carry and use rather than to keep behind glass. There is no original box or papers with this one. It has been fully serviced in our workshop and is ready to fill and use.
