Spark Convention 2027

International Vintage Lighter Convention in Amsterdam

On the 29th and 30th of January 2027, Amsterdam hosts the second edition of the SPARK International Vintage Lighter Convention. The first edition, held in June 2026, brought together collectors, dealers and enthusiasts from across Europe and beyond, and exceeded everything we had hoped for. SPARK was built on the legacy of the long running Düsseldorf Lighter Convention, and it is now firmly established in the Netherlands.

What Is the Spark Lighter Convention?

SPARK brings together enthusiasts and collectors from across Europe and further afield. Expect to see everything from early enamel strikers and unusual mechanical innovations to luxury pieces in precious metals. It is a welcoming, informal setting where you can meet fellow collectors, exchange knowledge, and quite possibly add a piece to your collection that you had not expected to find.

No single brand or era dominates. Zippos sit alongside Dunhills, and early petrol pieces alongside later gas lighters from the luxury houses. If you collect lighters, whatever kind, there will be people here who speak your language.

When and Where

The second edition of SPARK takes place on Saturday the 30th of January 2027, from 09:30 until 13:30, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam, NDSM Wharf, a waterfront hotel just north of the city centre. Entry is free for visitors.

The convention space is reserved for both the 29th and the 30th, so those arriving early can meet and settle in ahead of the main event.

Amsterdam was chosen for its position within Europe, making it straightforward to reach for collectors travelling from England, France, Belgium and Germany, as well as further abroad. The venue is easily reached by car and lies roughly forty minutes from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.

Why January

The first edition was held in June, and the feedback afterwards was consistent on two points. June falls just before the summer, when much of the good material has already changed hands, and Amsterdam hotel prices in that season are steep. Moving to the end of January solves both. Tables will be fuller, and staying in the city costs a fraction of what it did.

FRIENDS EVENING, FRIDAY 29 JANUARY

The evening before the convention, everyone is welcome. The bar runs from 12:00 until 23:00, and the hotel’s Asian restaurant is open for dinner. It is an informal evening and there is no need to be exhibiting to join us. For many visitors last time it was the best part of the weekend.

Reserve a Table

Are you a collector or dealer interested in exhibiting at SPARK? Tables measure 140 x 80 cm and cost 30 euros each. Setting up is possible on the day before, so you are not rushing on the Saturday morning.

The second edition will be considerably larger than the first, but table numbers are still finite and the first edition filled quickly. To reserve one, mail us at spark@thelighterhouse.com or click the button below.

Travel & Stay in Amsterdam

SPARK is held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam, NDSM Wharf, a waterfront hotel in Amsterdam North.

The venue is easily accessible by car, and Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is roughly a forty minute journey away. From the NDSM Wharf a free ferry runs directly across the river to Amsterdam Central Station, putting the historic centre within easy reach.

We are arranging a rate for SPARK visitors at the hotel itself, along with free coffee and tea throughout the convention. We are also in discussion about breakfast, drinks and a dinner on the Friday evening. Details will be confirmed and announced here and in the Facebook group.

Visitors who want to make a weekend of it will find the canals, museums and restaurants of central Amsterdam a short ferry ride away. January is a quieter and considerably cheaper time to see the city than June.
