This Cookie Policy explains how The Lighterhouse uses cookies and similar technologies on its website, on what legal basis, and how you may control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which describes how the resulting personal data is processed.

2. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your computer, tablet or telephone when you visit a website. They allow a site to recognise your device and to retain limited information between pages or between visits, such as the contents of a shopping basket or a recorded cookie preference.
This policy uses the word cookies to cover cookies and comparable technologies, including local storage and tracking pixels, which perform the same function by different means.
A first-party cookie is placed by this website. A third-party cookie is placed by another organisation whose service is used on this website. A session cookie is deleted when the browser closes. A persistent cookie remains until it expires or is deleted.
3. Legal basis
Strictly necessary cookies are placed without consent, as permitted by Article 11.7a of the Dutch Telecommunicatiewet, because the website cannot function without them.
All other cookies are placed only after your prior, informed and freely given consent, obtained through the consent banner presented on your first visit, in accordance with Article 11.7a of the Telecommunicatiewet and Article 6(1)(a) of the General Data Protection Regulation.
Consent is not bundled. Declining non-essential cookies has no effect on your ability to browse, order, or contact us.
4. Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies keep the website working and cannot be switched off. They maintain your session and shopping basket, allow the checkout to complete, remember the currency you have selected, remember the cookie choice you have made so that you are not asked again on every page, and help protect the site against misuse.
They are set by WordPress, WooCommerce, our currency tool and our own consent tool.
5. Analytics cookies
With your consent, we use analytics services to understand how the website is used, which pages are visited, and where the site is confusing or broken.
Google Analytics is operated by Google Ireland Limited. Event data is retained for two months and user data for fourteen months, in accordance with the retention settings configured in our account.
Microsoft Clarity is operated by Microsoft Corporation. Clarity records interaction data, including scrolling, clicks and cursor movement, and may generate a replay of your visit. It is configured to mask text entered into form fields. Recordings are retained for thirty days.
WooCommerce additionally records how a visitor reached the website, so that an order can be attributed to the referral or search that led to it.
None of these are loaded unless analytics cookies have been accepted.
6. Marketing cookies
With your consent, two advertising technologies are present on this website.
Google’s advertising cookies, set through Google Ireland Limited, record whether a visit originated from a Google service so that a later purchase can be attributed to it. We use Google Merchant Center to list our products, and these cookies support that attribution.
The Meta pixel, operated by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, records visits and purchases so that activity on our Instagram and Facebook pages can be measured. It may also allow Meta to recognise your device across other websites and services that use the same technology.
We do not currently run paid advertising campaigns, and we do not build audiences for remarketing. These cookies are nevertheless advertising cookies, and they are placed only if you accept the marketing category in the consent banner.

8. Transfers outside the European Economic Area
Microsoft Clarity, Meta, and in certain circumstances Google, involve transfer of data to the United States. Such transfers take place on the basis of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework adequacy decision adopted by the European Commission on 10 July 2023 and, where that decision does not apply, on the basis of the Standard Contractual Clauses adopted by the Commission. This is described further in section 6 of our Privacy Policy.
9. Managing your preferences
You may review, change or withdraw your consent at any time through the cookie settings available on this website. Withdrawing consent is as straightforward as giving it, and takes effect immediately for cookies placed thereafter.

Blocking strictly necessary cookies through your browser will prevent the basket and checkout from working.
10. Your rights
Cookies that identify your device involve the processing of personal data. Your rights in respect of that data, including access, erasure and objection, together with your right to lodge a complaint with the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, are set out in sections 9 and 10 of our Privacy Policy.
11. Amendments
This Cookie Policy may be amended to reflect changes in the technologies we use or in applicable law. The version published at this address, identified by the date below, is the version in force.
