Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, all lighters have been made to fully working condition. We restore lighters in house to ensure they hold there value and dont degrade any further, without the lighter losing its history/patina. Lighters will always be send with a flint, with the exception of some collectible (Zippo’s) lighters since storing them for a long time with a flint could result in the degradation of the flint, thus damaging the lighter. Lighters will not be send with fuel/gas due to shipping regulations.

If an lighter for some reason isn’t working, it is always clearly stated in the description (and in the price of the lighter).

I recieve a lot of messages of people wanting there ligher to be repaired. Unfortunately we are to small to offer this service at a reasonable price.

That is why the next step for The Lighterhous is to sell lighter parts and do-it-yourself repair kits to repair your lighter. From my own experience, having a leaking gas lighter or a petrol lighter missing a spring is the worst nightmare. Tossing them would be the loss of a story. On the other hand, getting your lighter repaired is inconvenient and expensive at best, if of course there even is someone repairing your specific lighter in the first place. That is why we want you to be able to repair your lighter from the comfort of your home

Unfortunately, I am not able to give any guarantee on vintage lighters, especially gas lighters. Even though crucial parts may have been serviced/replaced, an older lighter may still leak gas over time, or miss a spark. These lighters have aged over decades, resulting in some internal wear that may have accumulated and will affect their performance, and there is nothing to be done about it. Just know that you are buying a vintage product, and it can happen that they may not perform as aspected from a new lighter.

All orders over a 100 euros are shipped insured and with a track and trace code. This ensures we can refund you may the order get lost or damaged. All packages are sent through PostNL.

As for lighter parts (with a total value under €20), your order will be sent by post without tracking or insurance. In the case your order does not arrive, please contact us.

If your order was damaged or lost during shipment, please contact us immediately. In case of damage, the lighter also needs to be returned to us. After we received the lighter, your purchase amount will be transferred back within 14 business days.
