A S.T. Dupont Ligne 2 in the larger Regular size, gold plated and finished in the Montparnasse pattern, dating from 1998. The crosshatched guilloche catches the light in short, even flashes across the body, broken only by the smooth panels left for the lighter’s lines, and the gold plating reads warm and bright rather than brassy under direct light. It is a slim, rectangular shape that sits flat in the hand, built for a jacket pocket rather than a desk.
The Ligne 2 replaced the Ligne 1 as Dupont’s flagship and moved the flame adjustment away from the latch altogether, putting it instead on a small screw set into the base alongside the refill port. That arrangement is why the two ports sit side by side underneath rather than combined into one, and why adjusting the flame never involves touching the mechanism you light with. The cap architecture on this generation was built specifically to produce a sharper, more pronounced note on opening, which is the ping, or cling, that collectors listen for, and it is a large part of why the model is still in production decades later.
This one comes with its original box and papers, and the condition is graded good, meaning there is genuine, visible wear from years of being carried and used rather than kept on a shelf.
