This Cartier Pentagon in red lacquer dates to the 1970s, its five flat facets standing in deliberate contrast to the single curved sweep of the oval Les Must lighters made alongside it. Each face catches the light on its own rather than in one continuous gradient, so the lacquer reads differently depending on the angle you hold it at, and the gold-plated fittings sit against the red at the top and base of the case.
