However, even though crucial parts may have been serviced/replaced, an older lighter may still leak gas over time, or miss a spark. These lighters have aged over decades, resulting in some internal wear that may have accumulated and will affect their performance, and there is nothing to be done about it. Just know that you are buying a vintage product, and it can happen that they may not perform as expected of a new lighter.

A Ligne 1 from the 1970s in blue lacquer, the colour sitting flat and deep against the gold-finished metal. The lacquer runs the length of the body and lid in unbroken panels, with the metal showing only at the edges and around the latch, so the blue reads as the dominant surface of the lighter rather than an accent on it.
This BS version, short for Briquet Standard, was the first Ligne 1 to build a gas shutoff lever into the latch and to move the lighter onto standardised gas refills, which is what the semicircular latch on the front is doing rather than simply releasing the lid. In the larger of the two sizes Dupont made at the time, it sits with a bit more presence in the hand than the smaller version while keeping the same flat, rectangular profile the Ligne 1 is built around.
This example is in good condition, with visible wear consistent with a lighter that was carried and used rather than kept on a shelf. It comes without its original box or papers. It has been serviced in our workshop and is ready to be filled and put back into daily use.
