These lighters have aged over decades, resulting in some internal wear that may have accumulated and will affect their performance, and there is nothing to be done about it. Just know that you are buying a vintage product, and it can happen that they may not perform as expected of a new lighter.

A gold plated Ligne 2 from the 1980s in the small size, its surface worked in a fine crosshatch that catches the light in small, even points rather than one continuous sheen. Along one edge a run of straight flutes breaks up the pattern, giving the hand something smooth to rest against amid all that texture. It is a dense, businesslike finish, the kind that reads as formal in one light and workaday in another depending on how it catches the room.
The Ligne 2 followed the Ligne 1 as Dupont’s flagship line, slimmer through the body than its predecessor, with flame adjustment moved down to a screw on the base rather than built into the latch, and two ports underneath, one for gas and one for adjustment. The cap architecture on this model was refined specifically to sharpen the sound on opening, which is why collectors still listen for the ping, or cling, when a Ligne 2 is struck. In the small size it sits easily in a pocket, an easier size to carry daily than the large version, especially for anyone with smaller hands.
This lighter comes with a repair that belongs at the front of any decision to buy it. An engraving was previously removed from the case and the surface replated afterwards, which is the reason it carries a fair grade rather than something higher. The replating is a legitimate piece of work rather than a hidden flaw, but it is still a permanent alteration to the original surface, and the lighter is priced and graded with that fully in view. There is no box or papers with this one. It has been serviced in our workshop and is ready to fill and carry.
