However, even though crucial parts may have been serviced/replaced, an older lighter may still leak gas over time, or miss a spark. These lighters have aged over decades, resulting in some internal wear that may have accumulated and will affect their performance, and there is nothing to be done about it. Just know that you are buying a vintage product, and it can happen that they may not perform as expected of a new lighter.

A Dunhill Rollagas from 1979, finished in a silk moire pattern on gold plated metal. The fine engine-turned lines run the length of the body in tight, even ribbons, catching the light differently depending on the angle you hold it at, and the concealed hinge at the back keeps the case clean and unbroken along its spine.
The rolling wheel set into the side is what sets the Rollagas apart from a conventional flint lighter, and it is why collectors keep returning to this model specifically. A single motion of the thumb turns the roller, strikes the flint and opens the gas valve together, so the lighter comes to life with one easy action rather than several. Butane was the real innovation behind the model, doing away with the smell of petrol fuel that had marked every lighter before it, and the gas control valve lets you set the flame to your own preference.
This example is in fair condition, which on a piece of this age means it has had a working life rather than a decorative one, and it is honestly priced as a lighter to use or to restore rather than a polished shelf piece.
